Musicals

I have poured my heart and soul into (so far) two epic selections of songs concerning people and happenings. While it feels a bit pretentious to call them Musicals, I can't really think what else to call them. Rock/psych/folk/pop operas perhaps?

Whatever, it is my dream to see one of these put on the stage or some kind of screen (big or small) some day. Let me know if you happen to have a spare theatre company in your pocket.

They are both accompanied by films - the visual side is not always as successful as the music, I quite like some bits though. They were always considered make -weights or place holders for something better. Hopefully I or someone else will be able to provide a stronger visual side to the music one day. You do get to see me singing a song to a statue though.

The Drowned Valley (2021)

Commissioned by Aerial as part of their 2020 festival programme, THE DROWNED VALLEY is a musical about the lost village of Mardale Green. Flooded in the late 1930s to make way for Haweswater reservoir which still supplies drinking water to much of Manchester, the residents of the village were displaced to surrounding boroughs, however one resident remained and on awakening  he walks the remains of the place he called home. A confused ghost in a familiar yet unfamiliar landscape.

There Be Witches (2014)

THERE BE WITCHES was my first attempt at a full length musical of sorts. The name Nutter is common in my Dad's family and, coming from Barnoldswick, there has always been talk around the dinner table that we might be related to Alice Nutter, one of the poor women to lose their life following the Pendle witch trials of the early 15th century.

Further investigation has proved inconclusive, although the locals we spoke to when visiting the area laughed and said that if everyone claiming relation to Alice Nutter was correct then they must have been a very busy family.
