I am Goodnight, but you can call me Andrew. Once upon a time, my good friend Venice and I decided to stage a musical based upon the classic horror tale Frankenstein. The music was going to be big, the budget even bigger. Alas, people don’t tend to take 10 year olds too seriously so we decided to “sell out” and form a band instead. We enlisted our good friend Hen and set off on a journey which would ultimately lead to The Witch And The Robot. In the mid naughties we encountered a mysterious, dark presence know only as DJ Aesthetic Heartbreak and he showed us the way to go, joining our ranks in the process.
Rock and roll excess, custard pies, balloons, meat raffles, art installations, playing gigs on the side of mountains to sheep, festivals, support slots with indie-rock icons, album deals with UK Hip Hop royalty, album and single releases, glowing reviews in such revered publications as NME, Uncut, Drowned In Sound, ummm The Daily Telegraph (James Delingpole’s fav new band for a day), BBC 6 Music sessions, disappointing sales, dropped by UK Hip Hop royalty….. the journey continues to this day in it’s own eccentric, sporadic way. There are some photos of the type of nonsense we got up to below.
Of course there is also the obligatory “solo career”, and it is here where my early interest in musical theatre (more “Quadrophenia” that “Hamilton”) has found its place to flourish. “There Be Witches (2014) and The Drowned Valley (2021) are two broadway spectaculars waiting to be unleashed. One concerns the tragic story of the Pendle witches, the other a ghost from the lost Lake District village of Marple Bridge. They are both here to view in all their glory in the “Musicals” department. I say “View” as they are both accompanied by films made by myself, which if nothing else demonstrate well my need for a visual collaborator.
I also make songs and albums as well as soundtracks. I have included a selection of soundtrack work here on the website so please get in touch if any of it sounds like the sort of thing you might require.
